Our pets are there for us through thick and thin. They bring us joy when we’re sad, and they’re our cheerleader waiting to greet us when we walk through the door. One could say they are knights in shining fur! The mere thought of losing them too soon because of a medical issue is hard to think about. It is even harder when the issues are treatable, but veterinary care turns out to be unaffordable. 

With your donation to The Arizona Pet Project, our staff helps test and treat hundreds of loved pets each year, all while trying to comfort anxious pet owners. If you’ve sat in the waiting room waiting….and waiting…for results, you know that level of unnerving uncertainty. Having someone on your side to listen to your fears and advocate for you and your pets is invaluable, and that’s one of many essential roles our social workers play. 

One of the pets you helped this year is Lancelot!

Lancelot’s mom is a senior living on a fixed income, and she simply could not come up with the funds to get Lancelot treated for a tumor on his eye. 

Thankfully, she learned about The Arizona Pet Project, and our community was able to help this family!

While waiting for Lancelot, his dedicated person’s knee bounced in anticipation, sitting in the hardened chair in the waiting room.  A massive sense of relief washed over her when she finally saw his bouncing body wiggle around the corner, tail wagging, and happy to see his mom.

Little Lancelot, a courageous, knight-like pup, put on a brave face and made LOTS of new friends when he was at Palm Glen Animal Hospital to have his tumor removed from his eye! The staff adored him, and he enjoyed being doted on so much that he almost didn’t want to leave!

Lancelot’s mom told us when she picked Lancelot up from the hospital how “everyone there adored him, and he clung to the nurse as we were preparing to leave.”

She was SO relieved that he seemed not to experience any of the anxiety she had leading up to and during the surgery. And even more relieved, she could take him home that same day. 

Lancelot is well on his way to being healthy again, and his mom is immensely grateful to those who donate to The Arizona Pet Project to help her little knight, Lancelot, get back to normal! Thank you for supporting families and saving pets with us when they need it most!
