$75,000 Grant to Support Older Adults & Their Pets
We’ve got some fabulous news to share! Thanks to a grant from Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, The Arizona Pet Project has been awarded $75,000!
Picture this: a senior, maybe one of your family members, sitting in a cozy armchair, with a fluffy cat on their lap or a loyal dog by their side. That companionship? It’s like a warm cup of cocoa for the soul!
And the data agrees!
In Arizona, over 50% of older adults have at least one pet. Research studies indicate that pet companionship provides seniors with physical, social, and emotional health benefits. These advantages lead to reduced rates of social isolation, loneliness, obesity, slower progression of memory issues related to dementia and Alzheimer’s, and lower rates of heart-related diseases and complications from diabetes.
Our organization is eager to use this $75,000 grant from Piper Trust to support the well-being of Arizona’s seniors and their pets!
Compassionate Care for 200 Seniors and Their Pets
Receiving this $75,000 grant from Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust allows The Arizona Pet Project to team up with the Foundation for Senior Living (FSL) to do something very special by providing direct services to 200 low-income, vulnerable older adults in Maricopa County including residents of FSL’s housing program.
The grant will also support conducting a gap analysis to better understand how furry family members impact the lives of residents in Foundation for Senior Living’s affordable housing program. Further, the study will help identify services that foster seniors to live healthier, happier, and self-determined lives. Like you, The Arizona Pet Project knows how meaningful pets are and the joy they bring—and with this gap analysis, our organization will collect data that can later be used to potentially change policies, create more funding, and expand resources to help even more seniors in the future.
By supporting The Arizona Pet Project and being a part of our community, you are joining us in this journey and supporting our vision toward a safer and healthier community for ALL people and pets! Thank you for being here!
Together, we are making sure that seniors and their furry family members are happy, healthy, and most importantly, together.
