What you’re funding
For a family sleeping in a car, leaving a violent partner, or choosing between rent and a vet bill, a pet isn’t an extra. It’s the last thing holding the household together.
The Arizona Pet Project exists to take impossible choices off the table.
Veterinary access. Housing advocacy. A social worker placed inside a shelter so a family can walk in with the dog. More than 165,000 families have been reached that way—and every one of those animals stayed out of an overcrowded Arizona shelter.
Last year’s HERO Awards raised more than $370,000 that helped lead to:
→ A family leaving a violent partner who doesn’t have to leave the dog behind.
→ A senior who can afford the vet visit.
→ A shelter bed with room for a pet.
Know a hero?
We’re taking nominations.
Six honorees. Six categories. Every year they turn out to be people and animals nobody outside their own household had heard of—until someone took four minutes to nominate them.
Categories:

- Animal Survivor — an animal who survived—and went on to give back
