Keeping Pet Families Together: Tamara’s Story

What would you do if you got sick and had no support system to lean on to help you care for your pet?

Many pet families you help through The Arizona Pet Project are in similar situations.

The Arizona Pet Project covered the costs to board Tamara’s dogs, Buster and Bailey, while she underwent major surgery that was both risky and complicated. As if the fear of the procedure weren’t enough, she had the added worry of who would care for her pets while she had the medical treatment she so desperately needed. This was something our team was honored to be able to take off her shoulders!

With your support and compassionate tax-deductible donations, our staff had the resources to put Buster and Bailey into temporary boarding and were kept happy and healthy while Tamara was on her road to healing, until they could be reunited again!

And their sweet reunion video says it all, really.

The best thing for a pet parent in times of healing is the warm embrace of their animal companion! Pets can save our lives—and having them around helps improve our mental and physical health!

Thank you to Tamara for allowing us to share this intimate moment with our community and remind everyone who follows us that at any moment, life could change, and it’s reassuring to know there are resources out there like The Arizona Pet Project to help keep pet families together in times of distress.

Tamara, Buster, and Bailey are just one of the THOUSANDS of families we’ve been able to help through The Arizona Pet Project!

What Makes Us Unique

The Arizona Pet Project believes everyone should have the option to enjoy pet ownership. They provide comfort, companionship, and improve the overall well-being of their family members. Sadly, it’s often the people who need their pets the most who are forced to surrender them to shelters, where the pets face an increased risk of euthanasia.

Many families seeking support are members of the community who greatly benefit from the human-animal bond they share with their pets. In some cases, pets are the only family these individuals have.

Our unique approach and revolutionary programs are focused on improving and saving, the lives of both people and pets by keeping pets with the families who love them.
