Pearl’s dogs, Brownie and Coco, are more than pets—they’re family. Brownie was adopted from a friend who could no longer care for her, and Coco was rescued after being found abandoned in a box in the middle of the street. Through life’s challenges, they have been her constant companions, providing comfort, love, and a sense of security.

When Pearl needed help, her inability to afford vaccines for her dogs threatened to keep her from accessing shelter and stability. Without assistance, she may have been forced to give up the two things she loved most, her dogs.

In Maricopa County alone, nearly 83,000 households lost their homes last year. For those who remain homeless long-term, an estimated 20% have pets. For many, these animals are their only source of unconditional love and emotional support. Yet too often, barriers such as veterinary care and pet deposits prevent families from accessing critical services, housing, or safe shelter.
