The Arizona Pet Project’s Executive Director, Leanna Taylor, was named one of Phoenix’s top young business leaders as part of the annual 40 Under 40 awards. Each year, the Phoenix Business Journal selects and recognizes honorees for their notable contributions to both their organization and community.
“The Arizona Pet Project’s Board of Directors is proud to congratulate Leanna for this honor. We are thrilled that the Phoenix Business Journal has recognized her tireless work on behalf of the animals and their families here in the Valley. We know Leanna will continue to do great things, both for our organization and the greater community,” explained Chairman of the Board Steve Zeidman.
Leanna Taylor is responsible for the vision, strategy, marketing and fundraising efforts for The Arizona Pet Project as it works to reduce euthanasia in Valley shelters by supporting pets and families in need.
“Saving lives by focusing on proactive, data-driven programs is my passion. Solving pet homelessness through compassionate care of the entire family, including pets—and most importantly, without judgment—is more rewarding than I could have imagined,” Taylor described.
Leanna took on the role of Executive Director in 2013 after a long and storied career in sports, with a specific focus on increasing revenues and streamlining operations. Since then, The Arizona Pet Project team and shelter prevention programs have continually grown to address the root causes of pet homelessness in Maricopa County.
Under her innovative leadership, our organization transitioned to a full-service shelter prevention model, surpassed an outstanding milestone of providing 120,000 free spay and neuter surgeries to pets in need, and went through an extensive re-branding to better represent our community, mission, and values.
When she is not hard at work as our passionate leader in saving lives, Leanna spends time with her family, including her son Kieren, their two birds (Delta & Hercules), and two dogs (Pippen & Bandit).
Taylor, along with her fellow honorees, will be celebrated at an awards ceremony on August 2 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort and featured in the 40 Under 40 section of the Phoenix Business Journal on August 3.
